Monday Night Kinesis dinners at the Red Barn

Church is more than a building. Being church is how you show up, how you treat to the people around you, and what you do.  Being church is more than a set of rules.  If you are looking for a safe space to be church, a place to ask questions and journey together, then come spend some time with Kinesis.

Working Backwards Through the Food System October 8 & (

Join Kinesis Presbyterian Campus Ministry for a Fall Break Mission Plunge. This is a unique opportunity to learn about Louisville by working backwards through the food system. We will begin with dinning at a local restaurant, explore food options in the city, work on local community gardens and farms, and then conclude our experience with Breaking New Grounds (a local composting organization).

This two day experience will be on the Monday and Tuesday of Fall Break (October 8 & 9). It costs just $15 per person, and includes two days of meals. To register or ask questions, contact Rachel Parsons-Wells at rparsons.wells@gmail.com.

Schedule:
Monday
8:00 am Breakfast and group introductions at Lynn’s Paradise Café
9:30 am Begin tour of local grocry stores
Whole Foods in Saint Matthews, Value Market in Highlands, Kroger on South 2nd Street and Save-A-Lot on Portland Avenue
12 pm Serve and eat lunch with homeless or underemployed neighbors at 4th United Methodist Church.
1:30 pm Work at the Community Garden for the Refugee Agricultural Partnership Program.
6:00 pm Dinner and group reflection time
8:00 pm Finish for the day – return to campus

Tuesday
8:00 am Breakfast and drive to local farm
Work and learn about local sustainable food movement
1:00 pm Lunch and drive back to Louisville
2:00 pm Breaking New Grounds: Turning Waste into Wealth
4:00 pm Tour local Farmer’s Market
6:00 pm Dinner and group reflection time
8:00 pm Finish for the day – return to campus

White Water Rafting October 5-6

Join Kinesis Presbyterian Campus Ministry for whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River! This is a crazy 36 hour adventure on the Friday & Saturday of Fall Break, so you still have plenty of time to study before classes resume. The Ocoee River offers miles of challenging and exciting Class III and IV rapids on one of the country’s premier rivers. Located in the Cherokee National Forest, the Ocoee River flows through a beautiful gorge surrounded by scenic wildlife.

No experience is necessary! The trip costs just $30 per person and includes meals. To register or ask questions, contact Rachel Parsons-Wells at rparsons.wells@gmail.com. This is an experience you won’t want to miss out on!

3:00 pm Depart for Louisville
Dinner stop on the way
9:00 pm Return to campus
